day 1: INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT
Departure from Milan or Paris Antananarivo with final destination. Welcome at the airport and transfer to the ROYAL PALISSANDREhotel or similar. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
2nd day: ANTANANARIVO FORT DAUPHIN
Breakfast, second flight, transfer to airport and flight to Fort Dauphin. Welcome and accommodation at hotel La Croix du Sud or similar. Lunch, dinner and overnight in hotel.
3rd day: FORT DAUPHIN - BERENTY
Arrival in Tuléar. Reception and departure on the road towards the private reserve of lemurs of Berenty. 85 km West of Fort Dauphin, shortly after Amboasary, the fief of the Heaulme family is located in the heart of a region dedicated to the culture of the sisal plant from which a textile fibre is extracted. This family owns to a large part of the plantation, and decided to preserve a small part of the forest along the River Mandrare stream flows. Arrival at Berenty and accommodation in a bungalow. Visit the discovery of lemurs in the forest. On easy well-kept paths, we can discover interesting and rich fauna and flora. A rare occasion to meet various species of lemurs (lémur fulvus, Lemur catta, Propithèque de Verreaux). Visit of a museum Berenty Antandroy. In the early evening, in the forest, walk with torches to observe the nocturnal lemurs. Lunch, dinner and night at the Gîte de Berenty or similar.
4th day: BERENTY - FORT DAUPHIN
Breakfast, and continuation of the visit within the reserve. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon return to Fort Dauphin. Dinner and night at hotel La Croix du Sud or similar.
5th day: FORT DAUPHIN - LOKARO BAY
Breakfast and departure to discover another face of Fort Dauphin, Anosy mountain chain. The climate is hot and dry and allows you to discover a rich green vegetation and other types of vegetation, such as Travellers Trees and Pandanus. We then will pass by Lake Lanirano by boat, to get to the village of Evatraha where we will arrive to the shores of the Indian Ocean. Picnic lunch formula on the beach. Back to Fort Dauphin at the end of the day. Dinner and night at hotel La Croix du Sud or similar.
day 6: FORT DAUPHIN - TULEAR - RANOHIRA
According to the timetable of the transfer to the airport, flight for Tuléar. Lunch in a local restaurant. Reception and transfer to the National Park of Isalo. The road is straight and you will pass through Ilakaka, a small village developed as a "city of wild West" after the discovery, in 1998, one of the most important deposits of sapphires in the world. It is not uncommon to meet traders who, from their small banquet rooms, offering all kinds of stones and color. You can breathe the air of the green gold rush and the stress that surrounds it. Discover also the tombs and graves Antandroy Mahafaly. The landscape changes and becomes a semi-desert area dominated by the ethnicity of the Bara. We enter a new environment: Ihosy, intersection. Then we head towards the Isalo, crossing the pass through the famous "plateau du Horombe", a spectacular and unique morphological conformation where large towers of rock rise from nothing and hit the blue sky. Arrival to Ranohira in the afternoon, weather permitting, we can admire the sunset through the famous Isalo window. Dinner and overnight stay at the RELAIS DE LA REINE or similar.
7th day: National Park of ISALO
Opened in 1962, the National Park of Isalo (pronounced "ichal") occupies the massive Jurassic formation of 81540 ha.which extends over 180 km in length and an average of 25 km wide. Breakfast in the morning. Departure for a walk in the Isalo National Park '. Transfer of approximately an hour through a secondary road to reach Ranohira that represents the entrance of the Canyon. Beginning of hiking through the canyon (don't forget comfortable shoes, hat and sunscreen). Discover an enchanting landscape formations from which sprout Tufts blocks of tall trees. A rich endemic flora and fauna populates this fascinating region. There, you will not feel to be in Africa or Madagascar! Return to Ranohira at around 11.30am. Lunch at the "Toiles de l'Isalo". Afternoon of relaxation or the possibility of another trip (depending on the stamina of each) to the famous "piscine naturelle". About an hour and a half walk bugged by numerous colonies of lemurs that jump around, ignoring sharp rocks and spiky vegetation. You will be rewarded by a bath in the cool waters of this source surrounded by Pandanus trees. Dinner and overnight at the LE RELAIS DE LA REINE or similar.
8th and 9th DAY : ISALO NATIONAL PARK > TULEAR > IFATY
Breakfast, departure for Tuléar, crossing again the Ilakaka, stop at Color Line boutique, with explanation of zapphire extraction and working, before reaching the jewelleries all aver the world. The landscape changes again, from the dry land hit by the sun to the dry forest with some Baobab. This is the symbol of Madagascar with its trunk, big fruits and branches looking like roots upside-down. There are 7 species on the island, some trees are 1000 years old. The small "Andosonia fony", is only 5m high and grows near Morondava, the biggest "Adansonia Grandidieri", reaches 30/40 metres. Arrival in Tuléar and transfer to Ifaty, beach destination on the North. Free lunch. Stop at Hotel Les Dunes d'Ifaty or similar. Dinner and night at hotel.
10TH DAY: IFATY > TULEAR > ANTANANARIVO
Breakfast.
Lunch in a local restaurant.
Second flightwith transfer to Tuléar airport and Antananarivo.
11TH DAY: ANTANANARIVO > NOSY BE
Breakfast.
Transfer to Antananarivo and flight to Nosy Be.
Meet and greet and transfer to hotel.
12TH 13TH 14TH DAY: NOSY BE
15th DAY: ANTANANARIVO > NOSY BE
Breakfast, transfer to airport for final destination.
